Have you noticed that for some strange reason…
(usually because they lack business experience or feel weird asking for money)
…some people totally lose the plot when they join a network marketing business?
Here’s the most common scenario’s where respectable people suddenly turn themselves into laughing-stock via “mlmitus”
MLMitus Scenario One – I’m an Entrepreneur…Yes I Am!
“If I join twenty companies at the same time, surely that means I have something for everyone”
erm…no, you end up looking like a dodgy used car salesman that also sells watches, face cream, kitchen cleaner…anything!
Would you hire a solicitor that also installed kitchens, repaired your washing machine and claimed to be the best at them all?
Pick your favourite company, with the product you’re passionate about and get promoting with pride and specificity.
MLMitus Scenario Two – ITC
ITC = I’m Too Cool
“I don’t really need the products or to promote them for the money but you should”
Wow, how about that for a luke warm pitch and a lesson in how not to install confidence in your leadership.
Would you trust a review of a restaurant from some one who never has and never intends to eat there? No.
So be all in with your level of excitement and enthusiasm if you want to move people to action
MLMitus Scenario Three – Praying Mantis
Don’t look them in the eye, because once you dare show a shred of interest you can expect email, text, voicemail, passive aggressiveness, house calls, maybe one of those planes that pulls a message behind it “whhhyyyy!” if you don’t join their business in the end.
You’re supposed to be attractive, whatever you do your prospect is thinking whether they’d want to repeat it with their contacts.
Chill out, some will, some won’t, sort through them with efficiency and politeness, they will then always come back around later.
MLMitus Scenario Four – Bush Beater
“How’s your dog, cat, ex-wife…erm toilet habits. Oh btw I have a business you’d be perfect for”
Just cut to the chase already, stop beating around the bush. It’s cool to say hi but don’t be shady, just let them know why you’re calling.
Whether someone wants to look at your business info is their choice, but whether they respect the WAY you tried to show them is your choice.
This is the section where I’m supposed to sell you the magic pill to solve all this, instead you’ll be pleased to know there’s plenty of free advice on these topics on this very blog.
What I’d love to hear from you:
Have you ever made any of these mistakes?
Do you have any other examples of how people ruin their chances of making an mlm sale or sign-up that I’ve missed?
